The Economic Impact of the War in Ukraine on Cameroonian Farmers

Context: On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded and occupied parts of Ukraine in a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which had begun in 2014. The war in Ukraine has accentuated inflation, impacting the prices of agricultural and non-agricultural products in the global and Cameroonian markets, thus affecting households’ purchasing power. The war in Ukraine has accentuated the inflation, impacting the prices of agricultural and non-agricultural products on the global and Cameroonian markets, thus affecting households’ purchasing power.

Objective: This Webinar aims to look at the impact of the war in  Ukraine on Cameroon’s agriculture sector. Specifically, it will 

  • Analyse the impact of the war in Ukraine on import and export prices
  • Examine the imapct of the war on food prices 
  • Propose strategies to improve the resillience of the agriculture sector.

Corporations Tax in Cameroon: Friend or Foe?

Context: The total Cameroon CIT rate is 33% for companies with a turnover above 3 billion Communauté Financière Africaine francs (XAF). For companies with a turnover of less than 3 billion CFA francs that meet the additional criteria set by law, the tax rate is set at 27.5%. The rate of deduction at source representing the instalment of CIT is fixed at 5.5%, irrespective of the tax regime of the service provider, for invoices relating to public procurement amounting to less than XAF 5 million. Is this punitive? 

Objective: This Webinar aims to look at the nature of coporation tax in Cameroon and;

  • Analyse the impact on businesses.
  • Examine the imapct on innovation and coporate investments.
  • Propose strategies to improve the current taxation system
