Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Agriculture

Contexte: Adaptation to climate change in Cameroon’s agricultural sector is essential for ensuring food security and economic stability. Implementing diverse strategies such as improved crop varieties, ISFM, agroforestry, and innovative technologies can significantly enhance resilience against the adverse effects of climate change. In Cameroon, Mumita Holdings (startup) focuses on sustainable agriculture practices, employing technologies such as low-cost greenhouses and solar-powered irrigation systems. Meanwhile, the YouthADAPT  challenge promotes sustainable job creation and empowers youth and women in Africa by supporting enterprises that provide climate adaptation solutions in agriculture. 

Objectives; This event aims to;

-Provide an overview of good climate policy in Africa. 

– Give three examples of new policies that are posirively impacting various economies. 

-Outline the strategies to improve limate policy across Africa.

How to improve access to educational technologies in rural areas

Contexte: The rapid development of information and communication technologies (ICT) has considerably changed education worldwide. Cameroon is no exception, with the increasing use of technological tools in the education sector. Digital learning platforms enable students to easily access online courses, download and share documents, and participate in discussion forums with their peers.

In this Webinar, we will discuss the different ways in which educational technologies can be enhanced in rural areas, with concrete recommendations.

Objective: This Webinar aims to take stock of strategies that can improve access to educational technologies in rural areas.

Specifically, it will;

-Illustrate the role of educational technologies in the development of students in rural areas.

-Demonstrate the different educational technologies available in rural areas.

-Discuss the challenges and factors favoring the adoption of educational technologies in rural areas.

-Propose strategies to improve access to educational technologies in rural areas in Cameroon.

Impact of Free Trade on Sustainable Development

Context: Free trade agreements (FTAs) are increasingly being scrutinized for their role in promoting sustainable development. The integration of sustainability into trade policies is essential to ensure that economic growth does not come at the expense of environmental protection and social equity. The EU finds that sustainbale development has three pillars that include; social, economic and environmental considerations

 Similarly, the World Trade Organisation finds that improved and simplified customs procedures would have a significant positive impact on trade flows. They equally find that free trade can support climate change adaptation and mitigation both directlya nd indirectly.

Objectives: This panel discussion seeks to;

·    Illustrate how free trade can lead to sustainable development

·   Outline how free trade can support climate chnage adaptation and mitigation in Cameroon

·   Propose strategies to encourage free trade approaches that prioritize sustainbale development in Cameroon
